Better than that Chinese place behind the hotel. I love Chinese food, but that place is not so good. Wok & Roll is better. Subway and Spaghetti factory is also good. This hotel and location is better than the last two hotels we used.

but it could always be better,

The Chinese place was closed when we went there but the rats that were running around were having a party

Stevie Ray's Blues Bar, around the corner, a block or two from the hotel. Live Blues and Jazz.

If you've got time during the day, take the Slugger Tour. I doubt TSA will let you through with the souvenir bat these days though.

Just a quick kudos to the Holiday Inn staff at SDF...

I left a computer cable that hooks to my cell phone and laptop so that I can access the internet, in my room at the HI. I didn't realize it was missing until I was at another hotel a week later that didn't have free internet... I go looking for my cord... and... Doh!

Anyway... I open up my little red book and saw where I stayed that past week, and sure enough... I remember I left it at the Holiday Inn. I call the Hotel, tell them the situation and they say that they will transfer me to Housekeeping... Now I'm thinking the worst...

Anyway, I get the voice mail of the head of housekeeping. I state the situation to her voicemail including the room# and date I stayed there. Hang up, and think about walking to Radio Shack to buy another cable when my phone rings and it's them saying they have it and they will send it to me ASAP! WooHoo!

Just got it in the mail today!

Hey... sometimes good things happen! :)

I was at the SDF HI last week and asked the lady at the desk about the tour - apparently its downtown and the HI shuttle wont take you there.

Supposedly its the best minor league stadium in the nation. Id like to check out a game there if I could

If you have a long SDF overnight over a weekend, you can rent a car for around $20 after taxes, split it with your crew (about $7-$10 per person incl. gas) and drive across the river to the Caesars Casino in Indiana. Just like Vegas, with slots, table games, and a big buffet. You can also use the car to go downtown, the mall, or movie theater.

Several reliable standards within easy walking distance of the Holiday Inn. There is a BBQ place in the back parking lot. Also an Olive Garden, Waffle House, and TGI Fridays in the surrounding strip mall areas. All within about a 5-10 minute walk.
