Have to hand it to our negotiators. By agreeing to a Jan 2019 renegotiation timeline, we get the best of both worlds.

They will never close the sale in time and we now have great leverage for some more gains.

This thread title should be changed to “Gullible People Posting”

Correct. That’s only 6 weeks away. I doubt the deal will be final.

Maybe, but it seems tight to me. One day late and we have tremendous leverage.

I smell some of that 40 grand set aside for new hires coming back to the guys who kept us going the last 10 years.

Keep dreaming. Your reward comes when you leave for a better job. Nobody is coming to rub your nuts because they still hurt from the cock-punch we’ve taken since 08.

I’m genuinely intrigued about what, in the history of this company’s treatment of crews and ALPA’s history of pushing concessions and giving away contract language, makes you think we have any leverage. Even in the current climate and despite ALPAs assurances to the contrary the last contract left items on the table based on the promise of shiny new jets. They also, despite assurances, got squeezed into giving away concessions that wiped out a significant portion of our monthly raises and then actually had the balls to say that one of those concessions wasn’t a concession because the only people who’d feel that concession were new hires.

Nothing about this is going to increase the hiring rate or prevent the exodus and, deal or no deal by Jan 31st, I seriously doubt there’ll be anything coming to people already on property. What are we going to do with 25 shiny new jets we can’t staff that new hires won’t get to fly this side of 2023? Why in the world would they throw cash at anyone on property when they’re going to have to do all that and more just to get pilots in the door?

Why would the union include this language if they didn’t have a great plan to take full advantage?
I’m sure there’s a lot going on behind the scenes to prepare for Feb 1.

I’m sure there is but the track record is poor and we were told that they were not entertaining concessions and would not be swayed by shiny new jets. Both of those things happened so business as usual. As with everything ALPA I’ll believe it when I see it.

Really? Your Contract has concessions? I'd love to hear about them.

Where in the contract does it state that? In the Contract 2018 TA Bullet Point Summary, I see this, "It is important to note that everything in this contract was negotiated with a written contingency that, once ratified, guarantees that we will immediately return to negotiations if United does not award at least 20 EMB175s to ExpressJet by January 2019, all while we continue working under the gains achieved herein." It does not say anything about a purchase, nor that said purchase must be completed by January 31, 2019.

The initially redacted but still likely valid second contingency:

“If SkyWest Holdings, Inc. is still a majority owner of ExpressJet Airlines at the end of Jan 2019, the Parties will immediately re-enter Section 6 negotiations.”

Ok, redacted contract. Where in our new pilot-ratified contract does it show that? That is the controlling document, not the redacted one.

I can’t imagine our union leadership would redact it without correction and just let everyone think an agreement was in place to get a yes vote. Wouldn’t that be really shady?

And then once the deal closes, the next big announcement: CommuteAir Merger!

I’m 80% certain of a commuteair merger, and about 70% certain of an Air Wisconsin merger within 18m. I won’t be here for it but wish you all the best.

That secret clause isn't secret any more, but it is still valid.

The new CEO of ManaAir is the former CEO of CommuteAir. Sounds like the odds are more than 80%.
