I recently saw that the company recently announced that the Sign On Bonus for New Hires is now $22,000 and an additional $5,000 for certain type ratings. When you consider that many regionals are offering Sign On Bonuses closer to $40,000. Even with shiny new 175's this still puts us behind the rest of the industry when it comes to hiring. It makes you wonder if present or new management wants this company to succeed.

    Here we are now:

And... United started CommutAir out similarly, they didn't unleash the $45K immediately:

    But now... they are:

Soooo... If they follow the same path, I think it will take some time for them to see if this is going to be enough before they unleash more funds. Hopefully, it's enough time to get it "right". ;)

The $45,000 CommutAir bonus is only for people with 1000 121 hours.

Yep... you are correct. If you look at the first page of their homepage at commutair.com, it shows it right there.

The normal "off the street" CAir bonus is $22,100... curiously still $100 more than our bonus.

It also says the 1000 hours at the bottom of the first $45,000 ad with the picture of the TSA plane with the yellow sticker next to the apu.

Meanwhile new hires are paid within a few dollars of 5+ year FO’s. And now get a 22K bonus.

Insulting that a new hire will make more money then pilots who have been here years.

The idea is eventually upgrade time will fall, but until that happens they should offer something to FOs who have not jumped ship and have been working here 5+ years. Honestly insulting to be making less money then a new hire.

Trust me all can make that claim. What about all the 07 hires who couldn’t hold the left seat till Jan 2018? They never got bonuses, topped out in pay for 4+ years. All they got was a nice furlough.

What really kind of sucks is that finally, after all the years full of rumors, we finally get 175’s, and......the majority of them will be flown by our good friends from the airline formerly known as ASA.

...who will also block the upgrade slots for at least another year. Good thing is that CPP is getting really close to it’s first FO candidates. Bad thing if you are not CPP. Movement will slow way down once they make your seniority. The only guys leaving above that are those on second chance.

How long must one work there before the bonus is paid? Asking for a friend! :D

Typically the majority of these types of bonuses are paid at the completion of IOE, and some upfront (I think $5K)

For an official answer, you can e-mail the recruiters at the bottom of https://www.expressjet.com/careers/pilots/
