DCA Sucks
You've had bad luck. I've never had to wait more than about ten minutes. Probably depends on what time you get in for the overnight. Although I will agree that this hotel isn't my favorite. Rooms are nice but no free Internet even in the business center and the van stops at that other hotel in the morning and never even picks anyone else up. That hotel has their own vans anyhow, what's the deal?

Now with dump in PHL taken care of next on the list to change: MKE.

Fine for a short overnight but getting in at 0830 in the morning on that CLE pairing, we need to be downtown!

SYR - 22 hour overnight and there's nothing do to. The shuttle will only take you within ONE mile of the hotel. My crew took a cab to the mall - 5 minute ride - and it cost us $20 each way!!!

JAX - C'mon, we can't do better than this???? What a great town, and we're staying right on top of the airport. The hotel will give you taxi vouchers, but the taxis take forever to get you because they get paid less. One of the hotel workers took us to get something to eat when his shift was over because the taxi never came... then we walked a few miles home.

Never did the old MCI overnight, but the new one isn't too bad. John's Big Deck (a few blocks away) has great food and drink specials each night, and they have a rooftop deck that's pretty cool.

CAE is a good overnight? I haven't been there with this job but I've flown there many times. I can't imagine what could be so great there.

We stay on the Campus of USC right downtown. There's an area called 5 points with lots of good watering holes, and the best part is they are at run special for the college kids. Also some good hole in the wall places to eat right by the hotel and cheap.

What's wrong with MKE? Subway, McD's and a steak place right next door, cheap beer at the sports bar down the road, free hi-speed internet with a biz center and free newspapers! Heck, add free breakfast and you've got a great hotel there!!!

Umm yeah, try spending 18+ hours there and then tell me you are adequately entertained. Believe it or not Milwaukee is a pretty fun city especially in the summer. Time to get the heck out of the suburbs! Even on a dead day I would take the crew on a tour of the Miller Plant. Beats having to rely on a losey movie theater for entertainment.

Well for the first 6 hours you go to the aforementioned sportsbar (play pool, shoot darts, watch the game, drink a diet soda or two), on the way back stop at a food establishment and then sleep it off for the remaining 11 hours! Remember, the best hotel in the world isn't going to make up for a crappy crew!

True, but having a downtown or equivalent type overnight will allow you to have fun both with a cool crew (bars, restaurants, etc.) or by yourself if you get paired with slam-clickers (museums, waterfront, stores, etc.)

At the MKE hotel you are stuck in the middle of nowhere for long overnights when there is a thriving downtown area just 15 minutes further. The rooms are just gross, dirty bedsheets and just nasty hallways. Last time I was their I had to change rooms because the a/c unit in my room was too old and too weak to keep the room temperature at a normal level. Their "health club" is meager at best.

There's nothing more frustrating at a long overnight like MKE than having to beg the front desk or van driver to take you somewhere so you have something to do. Half the time they either "don't have the time" or "can't take you right now, maybe later".

My only MKE experience included a neverending supply of stained pillowcases and a freaky skinny man who looked like something from Mad Max, reeking of cigarette smoke, bringing me more stained pillowcases.

LIT isn't too bad. Walk down to The Flying Saucer and marvel at the rows and rows of brew on tap. Food isn't too bad and the scenery is usually not too bad on the eyes. According to Bosh, however, don't get caught out at night by yourself. Maybe if the whole crew is together it might not be too bad.

i'm down there 2 or 3 nights a week. it's not a bad place at all really. sure, you have to dodge the bums after midnight, but there's much fun to be had down there, and i wouldn't have any problems walking by myself back to the doubletree from the flying saucer. if you're really that scared, just walk down a block to the frikkin police station and ask one of those nice cops to escort you home.

Its an ok place but not that great....good beer yes, great scenery yes, however food and service sucked. Grab a beer, check out the waitresses, and go elsewhere for dinner

Agreed, great beer selection, but the service was absolutely terrible. Waiting 20 minutes per beer is too freaking long. The scenery is good though. I'm pretty sure that to be a waitress there you are obligated to have a "tramp stamp".
