I put in my resignation today and was told that I couldn't use the website buybackworld.com which is currently offering to buy the surface at $200.00. Instead I was told that I could keep it for the table rate of $426.25. I said that I would grieve it and and upon contacting compliance they said there was a group grievance started for this already. I just thought that the company would play nice with this as it is spelled out in the MOU.

"In no case will a separation fee cost more than the current market
value of the device as determined through an approved 3rd party
such as Gazelle.Com, using the actual condition of the EFB for
    pricing."

    http://www.buybackworld.com/sell-microsoft-surface-3-64gb-4g-lte/21680.html

I encourage anybody that is leaving and wants to keep it instead of just turning it back in before the 90 days is up to grieve this. Also Gazelle doesn't even have the Surface 3 on their site yet.

so now what are you supposed to do? pay the 426.25 and wait for grievance? If so.. horseshit.

Inside of 90 days we can just return the surface to the company, but outside of 90 inside 180 per the table we will be charged $462.50. It is a totally crap LOA looking back on it. We should just as a group take them back and turn them into the Chief pilots and go back to paper charts until they start honor our LOA. I doubt most pilots would be up for that since they are nice to have in the cockpit, but I don't think the surface is worth $462.50 as a personal device. I would prefer to have an Ipad. The surface will serve the company and the pilots well for what we use it for.

More bad news! Any guesses on how many days in a row of bad news we'll get in a row?

We can somehow find a way to complain about everything.

EFBs. We have wanted them forever now they are here. Heavy flight cases are on the way out.

New job. Hey all the effort you have put into applying and chasing down a job worked out.

These are two great things, and we somehow can spin that to "they are overcharging me for my tablet".

Just think of the difference as another "job fair". Well worth the cost.

Good luck to all of us, hopefully more of us can add this expense to the list of other job hunting expenses.

Really? Why don't they just honor what they agreed to. Why should the responsibility be on us to trade it in for cash online. Here's another thing to complain about... The surface sucks! Should of purchased the IPad 8 years ago!!!

Just give it back to them. Here ya go, take your POS tablet back. The one that freezes and locks up half the time. That is, unless you've infested it with porn popups. More the reason!

Can't do that after 90 days. I am thankful to have the surface but I don't want it as a personal device when I leave the company. I also don't want $462.50 removed from my last paycheck either. Especially now that the company is refusing to honor the LOA.

I just want the company to honor what they agreed to in the contract which I quoted earlier. 90 days since the issue date is fast approaching and everybody will have to buy them. I love how people say that somehow we will find a way to complain about everything. That has to be the most overused expression lately. Just honor the contract.

So does the contract state you can turn it in under 90 days? If it does what's the problem?

90 days from the time you picked it up or since you left XJT?

A pilot who has been in possession of an EFB for less than 90 days
has the option to return it to the company at no charge, or purchase
it at the cost calculated above

It looks like you can find that info out on xjt.com > My Items > My Devices. There it should show the date issued.

It's already been determined that until these devices are unlocked like they are supposed to be if you leave you have the option to just give it back regardless of the 90 day policy.
