Even the bonus will be no guarantee. Many pilots at other regionals signed contracts to get their bonuses and will have to pay them back if they leave early, so they are locked in. Those who have been around long enough to have "paid" off their time are probably senior enough that they won't leave.
I think it would take a combination of bonuses, new airplanes, being purchased by UAL, and a flow to turn around the dearth of applicants at XJT.

Seems that regardless of what effect it will have, the early end of the AA flying is likely in order to tie up that loose end so that a particular announcement can be made before Jan 31...

Back to the whole, what’s so special about any announcement. United owns 49% of CommutAir and that place is still a dumpster fire.... Are we getting 2 turkey coupons now? Is that the big announcement.

C5 might be a dumpster fire but their fleet is growing, it’s a min time upgrade, and people have gone to UAL thru their CPP in as little as 2 years from DOH.

    What’s special about the announcement?
-The announcement for the 175s will likely come at the same time as the purchase announcement.
-UAL is the financial backing for all new hire bonuses, retention bonuses, and any other cost items for future QOL improvements to the TA. None of those come until UAL owns us.
-Ownership gives UAL reason to ensure we’re at least successful enough to survive.
-Oh, by the way, it means we’re not owned by SKW.

What does any of that mean to a new hire. I don’t think they’ll care, and new hires are all that matter ultimately.

Bruh, United holds the cards for everything that will make a new hire want to come here. The new planes, more flying for planes we already have, more 175s down the road, the money $$$, the ability to create movement that will lower upgrade and reserve times. Literally none of this will happen until we’re owned at least in part by them.

Not saying life will be grand the day after it’s official, but it opens the door for a lot more potential than we have now. Why would UAL want to award more 175s to somebody like RPA or SKW if they can keep them “in house” at their own regional (assuming we can staff them). Why would they want to give a flow/enhanced CPP to anybody but their own regional... etc.... you get the point.

Any truth to the APC rumor that the -175 instructor training was canceled?

If that’s the case, I guess United is playing their cards. Last person to turn the lights off gets an extra turkey coupon.

Unfortunately true that they cancelled yesterday’s class last minute. Officially, Embraer didn’t want to run the class without a signed CPA. No word on if there were other factors at play. Also no word on what the next step is there.

IMHO, just another reason the announcements are important.

However, Embraer is apparently paying for Initial Cadre, so it would make sense that they don’t shell the cash until they’re guaranteed we’re a return customer.

Word I got from a person that is on the Initial Cadre was that Embraer is paying for the Initial Cadre and four initial classes to do ground and sim at FSI STL. Then after that XJT would do the rest of the ground training in house at IAH and then dry lease sim space from FSI in STL. Makes sense that they would want a firm commitment that XJT and UAL are committed for the long haul.

What keeps coming up is the last minute dismantling of critical components that are needed to make us attractive for acquisition. It makes you wonder why there is so much last minute sabotage. Personally, it looks like someone is realizing that if we are acquired and there is nothing for them as there other partners are backing away. They are the ones that are going to be left behind the eight ball with no country the same way we have been for the last few years.

Bizjet, this just supports what I’ve been saying for years. It has never been in OO interests to sell us off in a way that would feed their competition and/or compromise their control over UA outsourced flying. Hopefully this is all just another speed bump in our return to greatness.

Zero-G! I sure hope this is the case. Because, morale is really low right now and everyone around here needs a positive shot in the arm.

    Update on the 175 training...

All parties have agreed to push the start date for both classes 2 weeks. So first class will start when the second was originally planned to. Guess some back room deal with a CPA or other transaction will happen between now and then to convince Embraer to start training.
