Update in my messages shows rollout dates for Microsoft Surface. Did I miss something....is ORD just in October or are we not getting them now ;)

We have distributed about 250 EFBs to the DFW base so far and have about 90 left to go. The rollout has gone well and no major bugs have been reported with the tablet or Windows 10. Microsoft has been very responsive with any issues and pushed updates quickly. At this point we see no reason to delay further distribution to other bases so we will continue with the DTW base next.

Below is the planned rollout dates for the bases:

    DTW – September 1
    IAH – September 8
    ATL – September 15
    CLE – September 22
    EWR – September 29
We continue to have discussions with the FAA about when we can stop carrying the “paper”. Once we get a few more bases up and running, we believe the FAA will do a few route observations sometime in mid September. If those observations go well, then we believe we will be released from the requirement to carry “paper” shortly after. Thank you for your patience during this process. Further updates to follow.

I'm thinking they caught the error and changed the message.

    • IAH – September 8
    • ATL – September 15
    • CLE – September 22
    • ORD – September 29
    • EWR - October 6

Has anyone tried installing Logbook Pro Desktop program on the Surface 3 yet? I contacted NC Software support and they assured me that the desktop version can run on Surface 3. I currently use the App on my Iphone and have a virtual machine with windows installed on my macbook pro. I am hoping to get away from this setup with the surface.

If it's not on the Microsoft store it's not gonna happen for now. Xjt has these locked and they won't let you run any .exe files to install anything.

Sorry, I can't remember the details. But it begs the question from the debate on the FB page.

Say a pilot leaves, pays the lesser of the pro-rate/third party fee, and NOW takes possession of said piece of electronic hardware.

Is is now pretty useless without a SKW "administrator" password? Or does the device get freed up from that with unrestricted use?

    I just can't remember.

When you leave the company will wipe the entire device and then it's yours all unlocked. You'll want to back up all your own info that's already on there obviously before they clean it.

Looks like ORD started receiving their EFBs yesterday, does this mean they are ahead of schedule on distribution?? Will EWR get theirs early too?? Can't wait to get rid of the flight kit!
