Hi, I want to purchase gary porters upgrade training book. Does anyone know how to get one these days, i heard he went to CAL. I tried using the e-mail address that was in the book and it doesnt work. A phone number or a new e-mail address, or if somebody wants to sell there's or make a copy. A word of caution. The Porter book was written mainly with a heaping dose of uneeded info from the maintenance manuals and sometimes gets entirely too in-depth even for your own good. A rash of NH and upgrades had troubles with their respective systems classes due to this book. Stick to what you have with regards to online sys presentations and your CFM. There are other study guides that won't screw you over, like GP book. Don't get yourself into trouble by learning too much.

There's actually some really good information in that book... regardless of the looks of disdain you get from the training center instructors. That said... VOL's I & II & the FOM are spectacular sources of info too.

But... just take a scroll on down the main page fo the forums and you'll find your answer in the "study guides" forum.

the book was very helpful. All you have to do is go through it and highlight the info you know is fair info. You can tell if it is overkill or not. I found the guide very helpful. FWIW

If you use the GP study guide as a sole source document, your screwing yourself over and will have a tough time getting through upgrade.

If you use it to reinforce what you should be studying in Vols I & II and the FOM, you'll sail through upgrade problem free.
