(Post updated Fall 2005)
Hi Mike, (and everyone else)
My Study Guide has been off the web for over two years now, and all should be aware the current version is 0605.
Iâve thought hard about the security issues regarding my study guide. By no means of the imagination could you use my guide to teach yourself how to fly the aircraft, and Iâm satisfied that it would be of no use to anyone so inclined. Itâs only good for those who are going through or have gone through a formal training program. After talking with a few of our FFDO's I started flying with the jumpseat down, and I feel thatâs a real good defense.
There is an add-on aircraft for Microsoft Flight Sim that provides a very thorough lesson on how to fly our aircraft. (One of our pilots even participated in the making of it.) This was all done back in 1999, I believe.
http://www.avsim.com/pages/0102/erj-...145_panel.html It's great to use if you canât get enough of the thing when youâre at work, or want to polish your maneuvers before a PC.
Update on the ERJ-145 Guide...., October 2005
As you may or may not know, I had my right knee opened up February 1, 2005. The internal damage was worse than they thought but they were able to repair it. Unfortunately I had a setback during physical therapy in May, shortly before being released to return to work. There is now only a 50% chance I will ever fly again.
First:
GET THE **** LTD!!!!! You need BOTH Lump Sum AND Loss of License. If I had not had LTD I would have lost my house back in April.
IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!! You also should have 3 months sick bank saved up to cover the time you will not get paid until the LTD kicks in.
Second: Even with LTD things have gotten a little tight. Unfortunatley I have had to raise the price to $20, shipping included, and make it apply to everyone. I feel this is still a good deal considering you get the 37 page Guide plus the 69 page Oral Prep Q&A. FOâs upgrading to Captain also get a 6 page scenario based worksheet about problems a Captain might face, based on other pilots experiences and my own 7 years as a Captain at Express.
Third: A pilot I highly respect was kind enough to catch a few mistakes I made and tell me about them. I made the corrections and took the opportunity to add RVSM and a couple other things to the guide.
Thus, the CURRENT version of the guide is now 0605. If you have 0904 there are only a few changes, mostly fixes to dyslexic <> symbols and a few numbers.
Fly safe everyone, and fly each one like it might be your last. Because it might.
Steve
