I wanted to post this for all the new hires to see since every couple of months on here there always seems to be a question of how and when pilots are paid. CAL payroll is different from ExpressJet and their pay starts with an advance for the month. Our company pays based on work already performed. So...
On the 1st of every month (unless the first is a holiday or falls on a weekend at which point it will be the business day preceeding this date), a pilot is paid 37.5 hours, or half his guarantee, for the preceeding two weeks. This covers pay from the 16th to the 30th/31st of the previous month.
On the 16th of each month (again unless a weekend or holiday), a pilot is paid the remaining 37.5 hours of his/her guarantee for the 1st through the 15th, plus all overtime, extra pay and perdiem from the previous month. This makes the second check of the month your biggest paycheck.
Hope that helps for anyone who might have a question on this. Like I said it seems to come up on the boards every couple of months or so and new hires seem to ask me that question when I fly with them.
