Thanks for standing up and showing some balls. You'll never buy your own drink in my table!

Hey you guys check this out. A buddy of mine sent me this from airlinepilotforums:

This loser actually had the balls to post this on airlinepilotforums about the article after having that teen age style blog of his:

I think the piece is silly myself. This guy walked away from a lucrative career as a chemical engineer to pursue his dream of flying.

There seems to be a couple of guys defending Bryan, yet it doesn't surprise me that a lot of those guys don't see the big picture. All I can say is wow! A simple thank you could have been enough.

BTW, it was mentioned in the article that I arranged to have a flight delayed to make my commute home. Not so, completely taken out of context. What I told him was that I was tight on my arrival on my last leg and the departure of my commute home. Knowing the EWR gate agents I was sure they'd try to close early and push them out of there, especially that time of day. Trying to avoid a 4 hr sit in the airport til the next flight, I contacted the CA, who I knew, and told him of my situation and asked him if he could avoid pushing early if possible, just to give me a fighting chance of making it. I had to hustle, but he did just that, and I made it. They blocked out 1 minute early that day. I clearly told him that he should do whatever he has to and not risk trouble for me. If he needed to close, just do it; it would not be the end of the world. The bloggers went nuts with this and I guess the other forum made comments about it. It was an inaccurate statement on the part of the reporter. I would not expect any of you to delay a flight intentionally for a commuter, and I certainly would not put anyone in the uncomfortable predicament of requesting they take a delay hit just so I can ride home. There, record straight.

2400 pilots and this is the most photogenic one for the paper? we are fucked.

haha jk it as a good article and it is not easy opening yourself up like that. Hopefully this turns around and we can salvage the profession with a little more public support.

Bryan, that was a great thing you did regardless of what anyone says. As previously mentioned the beers are always on me from now on!

Listen, I am only gonna say this one time. I don't want to be finding my picture under any armrests. Yoke caps only!

Hopefully it turns around for everyone. Furloughs back ASAP at all airlines.

    Bryan,

I just wanted to say that I read this article earlier in the day and I thought, "Wow, how interesting, one of us on there."

I completely relate to what you said. I was not hit as hard in this economy as you were, but I was hit. People in my family and my friends back home in totally different fields (not aviation) have very similar stories just like yours, so I am very familiar with your circumstances. But your story is important because so many people don't really "get" the pilot pay myth that's out there.

Anyway, what really amazed me was the negative comments your story received on other forums. WTF? From other pilots no less? My God, we (pilots) are our own worst enemy.

I'm sorry you had to endure that. Try and remember, most people don't take the time to give positive feedback. It's easier to just attack someone.

Thank you for putting yourself on the line like that. Let's hope this all turns around soon.
