Hey evangelicals, this guy is not helping your cause. Pretty amazing leadership, one guy gets caught with a gay prostitute and another making false prophecies. When do you draw the line on what you believe from these guys?

I'll again ask the question, if guys like Joel Osteen preach that you come to his church and you'll be transformed and find prosperity, how can some of the most prominent evangelicals be so screwed up? That is part of the sales pitch, accept christ, be forgiven, receive eternal salvation and become transformed. I don't see it happening.

You're absolutely right. Robertson does not speak for me - or many. The term misguided does not apply to only "non-religious" types. The ONLY thing that matters (to me) is a personal relationship with Jesus. My personal relationship does not allow me to spout the kind of nonsense that this guys does.

I am sooooo far from perfect it's not even funny. Therefore, I am in no position to pass judgement. All I can do is share what I've experienced if folks are interested in listening. I'm not going to corner guys on the flight deck. I'm not going to corner guys in the crew room. I'm going to try and live my life listening to His voice and doing the best I can. I'm a lousy Christian, I'm just thankful God is willing to work with me.

Stephan,

I have a suggestion. Instead of pointing fingers and quoting internet sources, please read (again) the Bible, talk to friends of yours who are Christians, etc. and make the judgment/decision yourself whether or not to believe. If you have already made your decision, then so it is, but I don't think your current style of persuasion is working on anyone.

Yep, my conscious is bothering me, because I'm conscious of the fact that theism of any color is belief in mythology. My conscious is bothering me because I'm conscious of the fact that that mythology is used to take advantage of those who are unwilling or unable to educate themselves to reality, as it has been used since man evolved from apes.
