CCS Max Updates & Q&A's
CCS is so arcane...it's time to Expressjetize it!!!
Here's how the pool-display page should look:
feedback...any feedback?

An excellent idea overall logman. You are advocating incrementally improving the old system. I would like to see them scrap that whole 80's program and come up with a whole new look and format. Something that showed in a glance how much you've flown, how much rest you've gotten, and whether you are coming up on a 30/7 conflict, max duty for a day, 100h/mo, medical expiring, etc.

That is a great improvement (but it doesn't take much does it? ). Certainly makes it easier to read.

How long would it take to de-bug a new program? Remember, we are working for a company where cost will be the number one issue, not convenience. How happy would you be if you had to go a few months with no trip trading, while they worked on the new software?
|
Bingo! What would be the overall cost?

EDS would probably ask for a billion dollars and 10 years for this one!

And what do you want? Ever use anything other than this forum? Ebay, craigslist, Flickr. . . They all suck in one way or another. Sure there is some outright stupidity in EDS - like typing in the emp# when your logged in - and this does add up to conseiderable waisted time amongst all the employees. But what do you really want? Do you want some friggen web based interface with 45 images, 60kb of javascript, and endless menu shitcrap scrollbars and selct list turning us into a buch of endlessly clicking (and reclicking) morons. I don't care how it looks or works as long as I can quit manipulating the machine through stupid *** steps it should figure out by itself. I hate telling computers things more than once. Do you want to spend your time waiting for slow retarded HTTP requests? If you can't type, tab, type, tab, type then it sucks. Click, wait, select, type, scroll, click, wait, scroll SUCKS ASSHOLES AND BALLS!!! What is seriously wrong with CCS is that I have to type in all that stupid ****.
Back for more ranting.
Do you ever notice the delay in adopt when selecting a line (making it pink)??? WTF is going on here??? And moving a line up or down. . . same stupid *** delay - like its waiting for an updated list from the server. Isn't my machine good enough to sort a stupid list and then submit it when I'm done moving things around. Why do I have to wait for a request/response just because I want to put line 577 below line 601. AGGGGHHH! The rest of the software is pretty nice, especially the part where you can bid manually!
One more thing.
Is the comma in the manual bid really that important? Why do I need to type 50 commas when spaces would do just fine. So gay. Comma Nazi Assholes!

As long as we are ranting about useless button pushing...
Why can't the ACARS W&B put in the BOW and appropriate MATOW when selected? I.E. If I type in the wrong BOW it comes back with a message of "Verify BOW." Well, if the **** thing knows it's wrong why can't it just tell me the right one?
And after putting in the fuel Burn, if I add wrong and put in the wrong LS limit weight, the scratch pad has a red "MATOW Limit Disagree" message, if it knows what the right answer is, why can't it put it in there when I select Landing Structural as the limit. Takeoff Structural should be automatically loaded. Now the others, Runway, Climb, etc. would still obviously have to be hand input, but how often are those the limits compared to LS or TS?

I think the BOW is a matter of redundancy. They want to make sure that you haven't gotten on the wrong A/C and a flag should be raised in your head if you're getting "VERIFY BOW." I guess in a lesser way, the LS number could be as well, but that's probably more a matter of saving a few grand in programming fees (yes, I know it would be about one line of code).

I will concede that the arguement for the redundancy is there, but shouldn't we be verifying all of the info in the FMS and W&B any how? Like when you get into the PERF INIT and the pax weight is not correct for the time of year or the transition alt has been changed?
