I just tried it.......no luck. The screen stayed blank even after I refreshed a few times.

I have the "older" iPhone and to me it's not worth upgrading to the 3G iPhone, not to mention the ton of problems Apple is having with the 3G iPhones. If you have a 3G iPhone, call AT&T and they'll credit you for the price of the data because the are aware of the major issues with the 3G iPhone.

Here's the cost breakdown...

The handset costs $200 less, right?
The contract fee went up $10 but lost the bundled text messaging, which normally costs $5.

Therefore, the increase, if you want the same service, is $15.
$15 times 24 months = $360.

So, you add $360 to the price, but then subtract $200.
You're still $160 behind!

Why are people so excited that it's cheaper? It isn't.

Let's say that you don't want the texting:
$10 times 24 months = $240.
$240 added to the price, $200 subtracted. You are STILL $40 behind!!!

It's clever advertising and false marketing.

AdOpt has never worked on any version of the iPhone. AdOpt requires some version or capability of Javascript that the iPhone can't handle.

About the cost, yes the new 3G is more expensive in the long term but what people here forget is it's the only option if you want to buy a new phone. Used phones aren't much of a bargain either.

Some has asked me how I justify spending 85 bucks a month for cellphone charge. This is what I tell them:

3G iphone: $375
Accessories: $75
Monly Plan: $85

Not having to take my laptop: Priceless.

In all seriousness, I tell them All I have to do is trade for a trip that is worth 1.5 hours more, I come out ahead.

If you are even thinking about it, go ahead and take the plunge. Now I have it, I don't know how I did without one for so long.

Me and my wife use T-Mobile. We share 1000 min, with internet, unlimited text, and it runs $126 a month for us. That is with both of us having an iPhone. The only problem with the 3G version is that you can't software unlock it so you have to buy a little sim proxy for about $30. And T-Mobile doesn't have 3g, so you don't get the better speed.

I use a Palm Treo 700p and can access ccs, coair(employee res), and adopt. No funny tricks or software on the phone. It did it right out of the box. Granted, it's no iphone but the data plan is cheaper (verizon) and all the third party software you could ever want....most of them free!!! FWIW
