This is an 86xxx guy who turned down a job at CAL, by the way. I wanted to rip my friggin ears off. And then there are the guys who think we're making money right now, and the guys who keep telling me that they're so glad they didn't leave for CAL 6 years ago, because we have much better work rules. Earth to Captain, here's a thought...Work rules at XJT won't mean squat if we aren't around to abide by them. It gets really old listening to these 8xxxx CA's giving their "expert" opinion on our "profitable' company.
I'm and 86 number and I wouldn't have said those things, but perhaps you are putting words in this guys mouth.

For example, I would feel a little strange complaining to my FO that I might have to give up HBO and Netflix when they are gonna be hitting the street soon. Maybe he just felt awkward complaining, and you took it as, "Everything is fantastic." Just a thought.

I do worry about losing my job, even though I am senior. But being at CAL or anywhere else would not eliminate that fear.

Another senior **** here. I don't claim to be an expert on airlines, but based on past experience in this industry there are a few things I feel pretty confident about. 1) Anything can happen. For years people were talking about DL buying CAL, then one day we woke up and NW had control, came out of nowhere. 2) As bad as things look they can turn around in an instant, Mesaba. 3) As good as things look they can turn around in an instand, UAL. 4) There is nothing magical about getting a job at a "Major", UAL,
Frontier, Aloha, USAir, AA, etc.

We are obviously in financial dire straights. That doesn't mean we will be next quarter, but we have to make decisions based on what we see now. I am surprised that we haven't even started negotiating concessions with the company.

As for being bought by CAL, that has been discussed at great length on other threads. According to some of our management this is the end game and we will be wholly owned again. Agree or not it doesn't matter, none of our opinions do.

To staying at XJT and not going to CAL, there are many reasons for staying and many for going. Whether or not I, or my fellow 8XXXX made the right choice won't be evident until retirement and then will still be a personal opinion.

If an FO thinks his CA is spouting nonsense, then that FO should state so, instead of coming here and bitching. I don't understand what us senior captains aren't getting. What is there to get? You have your opinion, he has his. Why would that cause you to want to rip your ears off?

I talked to BD a few weeks ago and he said they had been negotiating with the company for a few weeks, my guess is the polling by the union was similar to the polling here on the pipe and any proposal will be voted down so why put it out there??? I think TA 04 was held back for similar reasons??? Could be wrong but I was expecting something several weeks ago???

There's not going to be a proxy fight.... Pre-August investors [that used to own 100% of the company], now own roughly 25-30% of it. All these weasels that manipulated the bond now own the majority.

We're at their whim.

I voted no with my shares and I would encourage others to do the same.
