The whole thing smacks of special treatment.
"She" shouldn't be allowed to wear the turban.
If AMR allows her to wear the turban, AMR should allow *everyone* to wear the turban. If AMR forbids non-company headwear to others, they should forbid it for her as well. If she gets to wear a turban, then AMR ought to allow the kippa and other un-obtrusive headwear as well. This has nothing to do with religious freedom, and everything to do with treating all employees equally.
I'm all for religious freedom, but freedom requires equality.
You don't get your own personal dress code, you don't get your own personal FOM, your own personal rest/duty requirements, etc. You want a change? Call your union and make sure that *all* of us can enjoy it.
Personally, I'd prefer that the turban be allowed. It doesn't seem to have a bill or similar (like on a baseball cap) that would catch on an O2 mask, so I don't see what the problem is. It's not like she wants to carry the dagger, as you said (or refuse work on the Sabbath, wear a mask-interfering beard, or other things from other religions that interfere with the job)
