Lots of people loved the cars they had leased and wanted to buy them. GM took them when the leases were up and had them all crushed. There were all sorts of protests from people who wanted to buy all 900 of them. That was back in 1996 and GM today says they might be able to make a plug in electric hybrid in two years!
GM was losing up to a hundred grand on production costs alone on each car.

GM was losing tens of thousands on support costs each year on each car. 1980's technology batteries are not easy to warranty.

After a while GM realized that sooner or later the battery system might leak, and then GM would get sued out of existence, so they dropped the project.

Blame our lawsuit-happy society.

My little 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid gets 35 city and 45 highway...dependable...and the only chick I care about digging it is my two year old daughter. I gave up trying to impress women with a car years ago...so I bought an airplane!

going bankrupt was not and never will be an option for me. I started that post because several of my friends have done that route with still no success, and I wanted to see if I was the only one in the US that feels that it is sad that someone can not take control of their direction or financial situations. I am a very old fashioned type person who will put my knuckles to the grindstone anytime in order to do what is needed to overcome any situation. I am a hard working tax paying american with the physical ability to control the direction of my life. I am not a flake that looks for easy ways out. By the sweat of my face, I am able to eat, provide for my family, and sit back at the end of the day and reflect on my accomplishments. I am in debt ( mostly due to house and school) but I will pay it all off within 5yrs. Take it how you want, but I dont care what you think anyways. biggest mistake I ever made was assuming that any sort of intelligence comes from this pipe. Crack kills no matter what sort of pipe it comes from. Inbreds suck and so does mesa.

I wasn't addressing the fuel mileage of BMWs, just the fact that so many people buy cars they can't afford.

So you go from not being able to put gas in your truck to having your house and school loans paid off in 5 years?!

You gotta show me that plan. I'd come to the seminar.
