But if you get some sort of mental gain from CAL having to furlough for a few years, then by all means, enjoy it. I remember being in the left seat of the RJ when CAL had to furlough last time. It made my stomach turn that things in the industry had caused this to happen(and I was directly affected by the flow-back). For you guys to be excited about this possibility when your own schedules will not even be affected is a bit sick. Do you think we would be excited about an Express furlough? Seriously.... Wow...
Even though we need to go about 1500 deep to hit me, I'll do what it takes to mitigate the need to furlough a single pilot here. I hope you guys are willing to do the same for your own someday should the issue arise.

It would be nice if some of us show up the 11th down in IAH
Yeah I'm with you guys. My heart goes out to those guys. I'm sure a lot of them were already struggling to provide for their families on first year pay. Hopefully it won't be too long. At least they've got a number at CAL.

Not as bad as several ALPA carriers shutting down and then losing representation at another legacy...

Dont fly an RJ. Was most likely senior to you at CAL. 10/98 Hire 02/96 hire at Express. And if you want to compare w2s I would love to share with you. 07/04 Hire at SWA. Now what were you saying again?

Oh yea...8 to 5 says Cal will furlough.

Hey folks, Just a thought but many of the guys that went over to CAL that could be furloughed are ex-Express guys just following where they wanted to go. I personally know many people who recently went over when they were taking our guys. They are still Express pilots at heart. Just because I hate CAL doesn't mean I want those people to suffer.

I couldn't agree with you more and the last thing I want to see is more pilots losing jobs. However as far as CAL, I never saw anybody at CAL or the CAL MEC showing any "solidarity" or "standing by our expressjet brothers and sisters during this skywest ordeal" I never even heard their MEC even say that they would tell management that they disagree with the whole thing. I believe that if all the pilots at CAL would have told Larry K. don't do that or else he would have listened. I've commuted on CAL for a long time and i know how they think. "Better you than me" or "as long as i get my retirement ill sell everyone out" again I dont want to see anyone out of a job but its just the way CAL is....

That's not really fair. I think Neal and some others specifically showed up to help out. And trust me, there have been many many employees at CAL (not just pilots) who have spoke up about other situations and, you are right, Larry listened. But he didn't care. He's a bean counter.

Honestly, they didn't have much say in the SKW thing anyway, so I'm not sure what else they could've done. Plus, they have their own problems to deal with.

If you are on the conference call tonight, please ask the question "How and in what way did the CAL MEC affect negotations between CAL and XJET, if at all?". The answer may surprise you and change your opinion a little bit.

Business is business. Unfortunately where ever you go you turn into a number. Some places treat there numbers better than others. CAL will not be the only one to furlough. United, Northwest, Spirit, ExpressJet and probably many more. I am not a huge fan of CALs management, but it is a good thing when management takes a pay cut and no bonus options. I agree they are over paid but, at American management is greedy. Pay Cuts from all the workers and then they(management) pat themselves on the back with stock options and bonuses.

Whether we like CAL or not they are our bread and butter. We need them. They need us.

The whole supply and demand thing will be out of whack this fall. Fares increase= less flying
less flying=less pilots because of airplanes being parked. I truly feel bad for anyone that will have to go through a furlough. This industry turn down seems to me that it will be worse than post 9/11.

Good luck to all those that get furloughed. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Yeah, great man. I'd be on 6th year Captain pay at AirTran right now if I had chosen to stay there and we could compare W-2's etc. and even have a "I can pee farther than you" contest if you want. How was I supposed to know that you, a poster bashing CAL, had spent a couple of years at Express then got hired at CAL and left for SWA and still felt the need to come on a regional board to bash a major you chose to leave like that. Wow! I guess you got to do what you got to do to feel good.....
