Default Southwest to Hire in July

Just got an e-mail from Higher Power... FWIW 3 confirmed classes in June! Get those resumes and type ratings ready. Atleast one good company is growing in these difficult times!

Dear HPA Family,

We just found out some great news from our friends at Southwest Airlines.
The SWA’s People Department announced today to our class that they will probably begin interviewing pilots in July. We just wanted you to be one of the first to know.

Best Regards,

Higher Power Aviation

Any word on if this is just to hire a few or will the interviews keep rolling on? I'm a little short on my PIC just yet.

What happen to the pool of pilots that were waiting to get in a class? I know of at least one XJT pilot who was waiting for his class. I will have to check to see if he is still here. I also remember Southwest announcing that they would hire back their age 60+ applicants previously employed by Southwest ahead of the pool. That is good news though! It is impressive how well this company continues to do, while so many others fail. I know their in for bumps in the road but they always seem to have a good plan.

From what I've been reading on other forums, the Age 60+ newhires were only a one-time deal. They got a class or so of them and that was it. There have been more and more classes added, so they're draining the pool. It seems as though Southwest likes to keep about 100 in the pool at all times. Things are ramping up there and it's a good sign. Hopefully it continues!

Actually only about 25-30 over-sixty guys came back. As for the poolies... most will be in class by this summer. Southwest typically likes the pool stock with pilots rather that hurry to hire 'em.
