How does that sadden you, dirt? I'm just trying to answer a question posed about how the tax works for ex-pats. I know from good sources that based on my income, I should pay little tax in the USA and no tax in Kuwait. As far as the intricate details of HOW and WHY it is that way, I leave it to the professionals whose job it is to know those details of how and why. Kind of like how you are paid to know not to select flaps 22 when your FO calls for them at 240 knots. The passenger in the back doesn't know that speed limitation or need to know...he/she just expects that you will provide safe transport from A to B.
Are you still sad? Am I the next person on your list to pick a pissing match with on the message board?
Cheers.

no, you posted basic information, that I'm sure you can read up on on the IRS site. Nothing you posted was big in detail.
Hey, you were the one asking if you should 'reeeeally' get a tax pro...

Whirl I am in Doha, Qatar right now ( Basically in the neighberhood if u look at a map) and my father is an expat here along with about 80% of the pop. I can tell you life here, aside from the obvious division of classes ( Arab over hindu/ phillipino) Life is good..No fanatics to speak of, just respect their cultures...The guys u see in traditional cothing and such are more worried about their nice cars and having a good time than "kill the yankee" besides I just came back from a mall that had KFC/ CHILLIS/ FRIDAYS/ etc etc all full of ppl having a good time...
Offcourse saudi might be a different story but Abu Dahbi, Doha, Dubai and Kuwait ar'nt bad places to spend a few yrs making good money getting typed...Plus Honestly u cant base conclusions on Hollywood man!

Unfortunately, my views are not based on Hollywood. My experience is time spent in EVERY Persian Gulf nation and a few others not with water front property. What you see on the "street" is not always reality. I can assure you of that. I spent enough time over there to know that the middle east is near the end of a long list of places I would not want to live.
It is a good place to make money tax free...there are some just north of you making lousy money...but at least it is tax free...that and its not so safe. Do you ever wonder where some of the fighters heading into Iraq come from..or where maybe there funds come from?
I would rather not support their cause....but that is just me.

Here is a thought...........
There are NO W-2's issued over here so how is the tax man gonna find out? I use a CPA out of North Carolina, along with my fellow ex-pat aviators, and we have never paid a dime. Hey AV, I was looking for you the other day in Abu Dhabi............guess your not doing those flight. Anyways, I will look for you if we start to resume those flights and United is still doing them. Look forward to meeting you.

Ok my friend, but you did use a Hollywood movie as a reference correct?
as far as what you see on the street being a reality or not that applies to anywhere ex. Living in Kingwood if a drug deal is going on in Dowtown its happening in your city but dosent affect you directly, do you really care?
I agree it is NOT for everyone...But I will take offense to the insinuation that my father or my self being in this country in some way counts as funding of terrorism...Who are the BIGGEST consumers of OIL world wide?! Its not just YOU its everyone in our oil dependant nation...My point is nothing is rose colored anywhere you go...every place has its good's and bad's...Keep watching your CNN

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that simple. Be careful over there and enjoy yourself. Many of those countries have lots to offer a tourist.
Enjoy your Al jezeera.
