Default E-LOGBOOK Questions

I have been wondering about programs like logbook pro. Pros/Cons what do u like about them, what might motivate a person to stop using the regular log book.

If I was to use it and carry a PDA what would be suggested? Any brand to stay away from? Anything I should look for as a plus in a PDA like WiFi?

Thanks in advance

I use logbook pro. I like it a lot. There are more ways to filter and sort your flight time than you will ever care to use. For my PDA, I use Airline Pilots Daily Logbook (Or something close to that name). It is a replacement to the little red books and will also calculate duty and rest times for you. I believe that it will sync to the logbook pro. Logbook Pro sells both on their website.

My $0.02 worth.

I use a palm zire 72 for my logbook. it's got all the usual PDA stuff like datebook, address book, etc...it also has a camera, mp3 player, (you need an expansion card for mp3s) and lots of games because I commute. You can also download airline timetables (I have UAL and CAL) and they automatically update whenever you sync with the your computer. It's also bluetooth equipped which is pretty nice but I don't have a wi-fi card or a bluetooth phone so I don't use that stuff yet. As far as the palms go....be careful with them because they are extremely fragile. Drop it, and it's gonna cost ya. I bought a case that was almost 40 bucks because I'm a klutz.

As far as loogbook software, I use Airline Logbook for the palm OS. It's pretty handy and you can get your schedule imported with all usual pairing info (plus crew, hotel #) into the device pretty quick. it'll also copy your trips to the datebook so you don't have to switch between both calenders. www.Airlinelogbook.net has a package deal where you can get software for you PC, too. I don't have that. Just the palm program.

pm me if you are interested in the palm program before you buy it.

take care,

I use airlinelogbook and it syncs the flying to log book pro. I Have only been using it for about 2 months so I am not quite as savy as some others with the program. I am overall pleased with the two programs. I have a Dell X50V PDA. The X50V is the top of the line Dell PDA with a True VGA display. If I had to do it over again I would go one model down to the X50(regular QVGA screen). The VGA screen is nice but there is not a lot of software that uses true VGA yet. When I bought it the X50V was about $100 more. I have even got a program that srinks a DVD to about 400MB. I transfer it to my memory card on my PDA and I can watch movies on it. They look great even on the small screen.
