I don't know if any military guys are still reading this, but if you keep your own logbook its not shady whatsoever to log the taxi time. Military conversions are for people who show up with only their military printout. People who do conversions may actually be shorting themselves. If you are on the ground with engines running and #2 has to swap out for a spare in formation, log that extra .5 baby! Just keep your own logbook and note the start and shutdown times...nothing to explain if they question you. Its just the difference in how the FAA counts time vs. how the AF logs it. Was reminded to ABSOLUTELY DO this by an FAA administrator at the San Antonio FSDO (Richard Tartwater) when I converted my ratings.
...but the guy logging PIC because the other guy doesn't have a rating...that IS shady, you can only log PIC if you are solo, T-1 Team Sortie, or once you are a checked-out Aircraft Commander.
