But why? I just spent $900 on new brakes, an axle, etc.... What a great vehicle!!! The only good thing, though, is that I can fit most of my life's possessions into the back and on the roof...living the dream.

Yeah, I miss that feature of mine too; it is much better than the trunk of an ecomony sedan. But I definitely don't mind the hurt it put on my wallet to fill 'er up. Ouch.

New Jersey does have some of the cheapest gas in the country, and attendants pump it for you, no self service.

There are places you can live in NJ for less money- still not dirt cheap, but if you're willing to drive over an hour and do 4-days it still beats commuting by air in my book.

yeah I got a MT (missed trip for all you newbuds)...couldn't make my commute from DAL to IAH, I know, what kinda crap is that?

You have to have 2 flights that get you to your base at least 30 minutes prior to your show time.

You need to have evidence of this so print out the loads the night before and keep your jumpseat receipts.

Call scheduling and tell them you couldn't make the first flight to keep them in the loop and then call them again if you can't get on the second one. If that happens they will give you a missed trip and you you will get a letter from the CP office and you will have a hearing to discuss the missed trip.

If you have the print outs from the night before indicating that there was at least 1 seat available plus the jumpseat on both flights that would get you to your pairing at least 30 minutes prior to show time and you have your jumpseat receipts that indicate that you did in fact attempt to get on said flights then the CP will give you a commuter personal drop in lieu of a Missed Trip

Default Missed Trip etc.

Great post Padrino . I just finished IOE and am on reserve now in EWR and looking for just this type of info - eveyone keeps saying "read your contract" but that doesn't really give the type of useful information that you just posted.

Does anyone know where to read an ACCESSIBLE primer on this type of thing: bid strategies/commuting/jumpseating etc. (and pleeease DONT say "read the contract")

If you just finished IOE, you should have been assigned a Pilot Mentor. The Mentor's job is to help you with just such a thing. He/she should have already contacted you by phone or e-mail to touch base. This is the exact stuff that we're here for. It's a good resource.

Default Mentor

Thanks, got assigned one at the weekend. Still think it would be good to have a written resource. I know a manual is being prepared - I wonder if we can access it soon.
