Correct. Ask as soon as you check in to be put on the waiting list for one (unless you're lucky enough to get one in your room already). I asked the first day I checked in, and got one the following day. Some of my classmates asked on the second day, and it took one to two weeks for them to get theirs. Or, try calling ahead and requesting one maybe.

I stole one from the hallway, no waiting time.

Default Base Assignments.

So for the later classes who have yet to bid, and those who are just curious, here is what they told us about bases.

For our class of 32

4 slots available in IAH

20 slots in EWR

8 slots in CLE.

And they said that after the perm bid, that everybody will probably get their first choice by September.

They said there are currently 46 reserve lines in EWR, 60 in IAH and 31 in CLE although he said that if you get CLE you can expect to be on reserve for ever because they have no future plans to add more people to CLE (for now). They said that reserve times in IAH and EWR will be about the same. Take this for what it's worth - a look into the crystal ball.
