Default UPGRADE TME

not to get ahead of myself but to get ahead of myself, Can anyone tell me what the upgrade time is for the left seat, what is the min time required? Jet wondering if it is quicker at one base over another? Also what is the pay for a first year captian under the new contract?

thanks in advance

Sit back and get comfortable! It'll be a while

I just started my 5th year in September. On the last bid my class was able to hold capt in EWR for the first time and one guy held capt in IAH. To my knowledge none have been trained so far and they are being told to expect a class date in the spring. So to answer your question it looks like 4.5 years right now.......could take less, could take more depending upon how much movement there is ahead of you.

Seems to me that some of the new hires with less than 1000hours may not have a lot of time if the upgrades were to come down below 4.5/5 years. What is the company minimums for CA upgrade ?

company mins are FAA mins.

I'm sittin around 1800 on the list (March '01 hire date) and the junior FO holding CA is around 1720, I think. If the progression continues as currently expected (flowbacks returning to CAL and currently scheduled a/c deliveries, etc...), I'm expecting to hold CA on the next system bid and should go to training by this time next year.

I know, alot of if's but it's the best I could do.

Upgrade times change with the industry trends. What holds true today may change (for better or worse) in just a few months. For now with all the call-backs from CAL our upgrade times will shorten a bit, but when the flowbacks are gone it could stagnate for a while unless people start leaving for other carriers. I've heard of a few folks who went with a company because of short upgrade times and got stuck in the right seat for a lot longer than they anticipated at a reduced quality of life. Just take the current upgrade times with a grain of salt.
