Default Rookie pilot

' Hi my name is Ronnie and I'm a PPL @ Sierra Academy, its an ab-initio program in @ OAK, my school has the almost to common place "Guaranteed" interview with Continental Express and American Eagle! If Anyone the Professional Pilots on this web site could help out a Rookie( I'm 21)! I'd just like to know have any of the pilots from school actually been hired? My major concern is my multi-time When I "graduate" I should have about 1650TT, w/ 250 ME! Also I have an A.S. Aviation Pro Pilot from ERAU! And, one last question, What is the junior A/C @ Con. Express, also what is the starting pay like relative to other Reg. Airlines! Thank You Very to Who ever ,and don't use the T/R to full pwr! P.S. I'm not in immediate need of info as I still have about 1.5 yrs before I'm at least somewhat hopefully................."Qualified"! And Thank You Again!

It should be the 12,000 furloughed pilots in this industry. Run away! Run far, far away!

Seriously though I would consider getting a Bachelors degree in some field non-aviation related so if you decide professional aviation is not for you you have something to fall back on.

We only have one equipment type here: The EMB-145/135 3 Models, the ER LR and XR (the one with the winglets)

Starting pay suxs and is a little better than most 50 seat jet carriers.

There are 1100 pilots furloughed from Continental and CALEX and it's gonna be a while until all of them are back. Many are considering not returning and a lot are leaving aviation entirely.

Keep flying to build your time.

Sorry to sound so negative, but there is very little that is glamorous about this job anymore in light of marginal company performance, poor pay, security issues, etc........
