I will certainly agree that each situation leading up to a missed deadhead is unique. I guss that makes it hard and almost pointless to debate then in a general context.

Yeah, so why did you say missing a DH should be treated as a missed trip?

I missed a DH after I was reassigned in the middle of a trip. Blocked in; crew tracker gives me assignment w/o PNR; DH in 30 mins; go to gate; no listing; spend 30 mins on hold and get through to CS as the plane pushes back. And you think I should get a missed trip for that?

Although I do agree that if someone has a DH for the next day there is no excuse for turning up w/o boarding pass in hand.

Also, why not use that Crew Requests tab on the Flight Ops home page and they'll email you the record locator no?

The stupid thing is that it says you have to email them with a MINIMUM of 24 hrs in advance. When you do that, they'll email you telling you that the DH isn't listed 'till the previous night i.e. MAXIMUM 19 or 20 hours in advance. Pretty useless really.

So why is this thread now in the NEW HIRES section. You mean to say that only new hires have issues with DH's? The last I heard EVERYONE does deadheads?

I just show up at the gate in time to get on, get denied boarding and go from there. it almost always works out in your favor. IE: you go home, or fly less and get pay protected.

Now - for line holders.. NEVER call if they haven't listed you for a deadhead at the end of the trip. if you don't get on because of their mistake, the new deadhead is a re-assignment after trip termination and you'll get 150% pay for some of it

I had a month where I was deadheading almost every pairing and I used this tool every week and I think I got a response once. Overall I've had about a 25% chance of them getting back to me.

Anyone notice that any thread with "reserve" in the title is now in "new hire" section. I guess reserve captains with questions are considered New hires!

The funny thing is we really shouldn't even have a new hire section anymore! Everyone at the company has worked here for 8 months or longer.
