Default New Hire Classes...Updates?

Assuming that nobody has heard anything "official" from Angela & Co. I think the latest rumors are chances of a small class this summer, and starting more classes in Sept (All subject to change if true...). Has anyone heard anything about any of this, or heard any updates they'd care to share? I'd like to think we'll hear from Angela this week to tell us something official regarding the already well known fact that we aren't going to class in April.

For those who are familiar with pools...for those of us who interviewed in Nov/Dec of 2007, will we have to be reinterviewed for the job? What is the industry standard regarding that? Thanks.

PS-I know that getting new hires is literally on the bottom of the list during these turbulent times at XJT...but any feedback would be appreciated by everyone!

You do know they are offering COLAs to FOs through the summer, right? I'd think maybe fall or later.

Yeah I am aware of the COLA's...I didn't know they were through summer though. Thanks.

COLA's in May, June, and July.

Problem is if we get more flying it could all change, and they could ask for those of us on COLA to come back early. There's no requirement to come back early if they ask us so we could end up being short if we get more flying.

True, but it takes at least 2-2.5 months to get a new hire online so even waiting for the FOs on COLA to come back would be quicker. New hires would just pick up any slack.

With oil so expensive and most every airline planning to cut capacity I'd be surprised if we got any new flying. I'd love to be wrong about that.

Just give it some time. I'm sure you'll be shocked what will happen to what everyone thinks high oil means

I'm not sure any pilots here can give you a firm answer one way or another. People are still moving on. I've moved up (on average) 30 seniority spots a month since starting late last summer so at some point, assuming we're still operating like we do now, we will need additional pilots, since guys ARE leaving. Now however, with several majors putting new hire ground schools on hold, I would expect the attrition rate from ExpressJet to slow down with fewer people leaving each month since most of our departees leave to go to majors. Summer/fall sounds reasonable to me but that's just my opinion. Re: bases, if you were to finish ground school today, you'd get something on the CoEx side of things. West coast, especially LAX, is full. I'm LAX based and the crew room here is plastered with people looking to base trade and come out west. Though they were super junior when LAX and ONT first opened, I think we're to the point now that just about everyone at these two bases wants to be here.

Thanks for all the responses. It's ashame that HR hasn't been in touch with anyone, even to deliver bad news...but it's understandable that they most likely don't know whats going on.

True it does suck. I know that we got our last e-mail the last Friday of Jan. so I figure that we might get an e-mail this Friday as it is the last one for March. Also, heard another rumor (I know what rumors are like so you don't have to go there) that classes may begin sooner than the late summer one we heard not to long ago (saw this on APC). Whatever the case may be the waiting game sucks but just hang in there, keep your head up, and stay as positive as you can and keep your options open.

Hope to hear news this week.
