Default get off myspace!

Just FYI, if you are on myspace, and you have some vulgar stuff on there, take it off, or make your page private or whatever they let you do. Airlines DO search for you on there to get an idea of who you are off the job. Unless you eat, breath and crap aviation, you probably arn't representing yourself in a professional manner on that site. All they need is either your name, email, school, zip and they can find you. Big brother is watching...........

I know this is done by recruiters in other fields, haven't heard of it being done among the airlines, but everyone else is doing it...

Easy way to widdle down a field of "good" candidates.

Question

One guy/gal has a few college drinking pictures in their facebook/myspace/etc. picture section. Having a great time in the college years.

One guy/gal has nothing but pictures of themselves in front of the plane they flew at the time the picture was taken.

Which would you rather spend a four-day with?

I commuted to IAH next to a guy who told me about looking up applicants on myspace and facebook, so take it for what it's worth. You may not agree that it is fair, but if you want the job...............

My wife's company does this 100% of the time for new applicants. So yes it makes sense to make your pages private. If you have tons of pics of you binge drinking, passed out, puking, etc. Not a good thing... The new generation (those in their teens and early twenties) need to learn this.

Advertising agency not that it really matters. I know of other companies that do this stuff. Trust me people/companies care about your personal lives. While they might not legally be able to ask things like where you are from, what religion, are you married, etc, etc in an interview. It is fair game in the public domain to see what crap you put on the Internet.

Under certain circumstances, sounds like it could grounds for a big time lawsuit.
