Default Trip added to my ARC

I sat ARC 6am-11am today. At 11:10 scheduling calls me and asks if I'll do a flight with a 11:15 departure. I know I could have turned it down but I fly so rarely so I agreed. Looking at my schedule this 2 day trip is showing as part of the ARC pairing. Does that matter? I thought I heard it should show as a new pairing but I don't remember why. I just need to know if its worth burning through my cell phone minutes trying to call scheduling to fix it.

Thanks

I'd run that past compliance, but since they called and you answered they got you. What I would be checking is the pay-did you get the 4 hours for ARC + the value of the trip.

Leaving the same pairing number has some advantages, in that they can accurately track your duty time. I've had them give me 2 pairing numbers in one day and time out because a scheduler thought the second trip was my only flying of the day.

Contractually the two pairings should be counted separately (i.e. full ARC credit and full trip credit). They are two separate assignments, as that trip could not have been contractually given during ARC. You sat the full ARC time, THEN took a trip.

Also, reference the Airport Standby section of the contract:

While you did ARC before the flight assignment in your case, I think the spirit of the rule would apply to either case. But, don't go off of what I say. Contact xjtcompliance.

xjtcompliance responded that there is nothing in the contract since it was an illegal assignment that I accepted, so it will probably get paid as if it was part of the ARC assignment (which if I remember right is 4 hours OR the value of the trip, which ever is greater. The trip is worth 2:41 plus a 1:51 DH). Though honestly I don't even know how to read the Pay Register or Master Schedule screens in CCS when it comes to pay, so even if they are crediting me for the ARC and the pairing I wouldn't know it.

I'll have to catch someone I know in the crew room who can explain those screens for me. None of the numbers I see add up to either of the possible outcomes right now . *edit* CS said (after less than a minute on hold woot!) that they think I'll get paid for both but this is how they "have to" do it in this scenario, but to check with payroll.

I submitted a pay claim and they denied it. It's not going to have any impact on my financially, but I was warned and forgot that if I ever accept a trip that begins after an ARC assignment to make sure they create a separate pairing for it. Now I know why

Also another reason to make sure and read the contract. Once your ARC assignment is over, your done.

I know its tempting to fly, since we are flying so rarely on reserve, but the schedulers figure that since you did it, other people will do it, and they'll try to screw us.

Ya need to know the rules, so when scheduling tries to bend them, you can say... "uh, no"

Just watch to make sure you get paid for it. I had an Arc from 9:00-2:00 and was offered a turn that left at 2:15pm. I did it but it didn't get its own pairing number and even though I filled out the PMR, I was only paid for the arc. They fixed it when I filed a pay claim but obviously did not initially see that I did the arc for the full duration and then picked up a 3 hour turn.

By you taking those actions, you are undermining the contract and CS will gladly continue to do so with other people. I know you want to fly but at the same time you are letting the company know that if they can get away with things, they will. I came from a couple of 135 operators that had their way with the pilots because they could. Hell, look at Mesa. If we're not careful, we'll end up that way.

They asked again the other day, so I said "sure if you make it a separate pairing" ::click click click::: "ok its a separate pairing" (and it was, I double checked before we left).

I do want to be careful that I'm not doing anything outside the contract that is screwing my coworkers. Is there any reason *besides* being careful with the pay that I shouldn't accept this particular request?
