I just put the date in question (in the format ddmmyy) the base, and the position. That gives me an idea of my call order for whatever day I'm worried about. Then I go to Open Time under Trading, put in the same info, and I can get an idea of what/if flights I'm going to have. It's not perfect, and they can always pin something on you that necer made it to open time, but it can give you an idea of where you stand, and if you should bother to call in to get released.
By the way, excellent screename.

FYI...
If you see that you have a good chance of flying, and see a trip in open time you like, call scheduling EARLY the morning before and tell them you want it. Worked for me several times to get a good trip versus something I didn't want. They start assigning the trips for the next day early in the morning, so call before 6am if you see something you like. They know whether or not you will be used, and most of them have no problem assigning you early. Most likely they will not release you to show, so you will still be on reserve, but at least you will end up with a better trip.
Good luck.

Thanks, and, Thanks. Now if I could only figure out what all the other info means.
When I pulled up some sample dates for the not too distant future, it showed alot of pilots on the list that were FBO'd but only one or two actual reserves. Are the reserves that tight or did I not look in the right place or interpet properly?

Ah. I failed to elaborate:
Click the F8 button to go to the next page. F7 goes back. You'll see all the reserve folks in thier respective orders, i.e. FBO, RX, Long Call WillFly, Long Call NoPref, Short Call WillFly, Short Call No Pref. You can kinda, sorta, use that info to see if'n you'll get a trip, and what day.
Mind you, the actual method used to dole out reserve trips this: part black magic, part sadism, part Pai Gow Poker, and part scotch. It all goes into a cauldron that the schedulers dance around at about 3 in the morning. Mystic spirits then raise the names of those chosen to the boards. Then the boards are erased and the schedulers choose at random.
As for calling scheduling, it never hurts to get a second opinion:
*brrrrring!*
"Hey, can I get put on Will Fly for my next reserve sit?"
"Not under any circumstances!! You MUST call 48 hours in advance, cook breakfast in bed for the scheduling crew, and sacrifice a goat under a full moon to the God of the Coair!!!!! Perish in hell, you schedule COMMODITY!!!"
"Uh, OK. Nevermind."
<30 seconds later...>
*brrrring!*
"Hey, can I get put on Will Fly for my next reserve sit?"
"Sure, dude. Done."
"Thanks!"

If you go under Schedule, Reserve Preference...You can opt to be will fly on there. You can set it up for the entire month. That way, you don't have to deal with scheduling.

True!
The same principle, however, applies to getting released, getting a trip, etc. So much of what you get from scheduling depends on who you talk to, what mood they're in, and what phase of the moon we have that I've taken a statistical approach to dealing with them: several random samples are taken, and the results averaged.

Actually you can change this for each reserve block for the month. You can change your mind up to 48 hours prior.
I have used that to either get a trip I saw in open time or avoid the same trip by looking a the open time and where I would fall in each catagory; will fly or no-preference. Works sometimes.
The suggestion to call early also works but early is around 5-6AM, IAH time.

Calling scheduling in early morning works sometimes. I've tried it and worked a few times, I got the exact trips that I wanted. Then again, I've tried it last few times, and they weren't too nice. They always start off "Under the new contract...." But sometimes, they'll be like "Ok, let me see what I can do, check under CCS in a few hours..." plus on top of that they called and said you go the trip you asked for. So I don't think there is any rhyme or reason behind why sometimes you'll get the trip and sometimes you'll get blown off. But I still keep trying

When looking at the bid pack for June it says that seondary bid closes on the 23rd, is this when the reserve bid closes as well? I am scheduled to finish IOE on the 25th. Will scheduling just build me a reserve line for June or are you able to put in any kind of request for what you want if you miss the bid?
