Default base trade and perm bid?

If someone trades me his/her IAH FO for my EWR FO, when can I make the transfer? Second if on the next permbid I get IAH can they lock me into EWR for a couple more months? I really dont want to be in EWR or CLE they were my last choices. Thanks for the help!

1. If you do a base trade, both of you MUST bid to stay in your current base. For example if you are EWR and the other guy is IAH, you must bid to stay in EWR and he must bid to stay in IAH on the perm bid that is open right now. If one of you is awarded another base on the perm bid, the whole base trade is canceled.

2. When you speak to Martha once you fax in the base trade form, she will advise you when the trade will take effect. Get it in ASAP!

3. If you decide not to base trade and use the perm bid, then yes, it may be a couple of months. Once awarded the new domicile you bid for your advancement date, in seniority order-this prevents a disorganized mass exodus from a base all at once. The effective date of the perm bid is the date when all of the people awarded a new domicile on the bid should be in the new domicile. Problem is, they don't publish the advancement dates that you can bid on in advance. So basically just bid for IAH, if you get it then bid for the earliest advancement dates. Take a look at the previous FILs from past bids about advancements to get an idea how things work.
