I have no clue what is going on there at the scheduling deptartment. I was really hoping that I could pull off IAH right off the bat, considering the class two weeks ahead of us got IAH if they requested it. Ohh well, I guess I better start learning about the lake affect.

I'm a newbie here so correct me if I am wrong but the way I understand it right now is that things run like this:

When you get your first assignment out of training they basically send you to where there is a need and then when the next bid comes out you fall in line according to seniority? So ONT and LAX may be where the most junior folks are going when they bid, but when you first come out of class if they have 8 vacancies to fill in CLE and 24 to fill in EWR due to others moving on, you end up going to CLE or EWR. Most likely by the time the next bid comes out, those new hires that just got placed in CLE or EWR will probably not be able to have the seniority to even bid those domiciles so they end up getting displaced to the junior base, which right now is LAX and ONT? I would think that with the CA bases being so junior the folks that are there are probably not leaving the company any time soon, conversely the CAL bases are having openings because senior folks from there are moving on to Majors or some other job?

Am I on the right track here?

Once you are awarded a base you can't be displaced by someone senior unless the company runs a reduction bid. There hasn't been a true reduction bid with displacements since the turbo prop and flow back days. Now you can "displace" yourself by bidding another base and being awarded it on a subsequent system ("perm") bid.
