I'd say that most of the people that can answer this question don't even know that this board exists.

I believe the 4/30 and 5/7 class was an even split between LAX and EWR, roughly.

i realize were short everywhere, but if they stick a bunch of people into EWR, then the lines go down in January (i know this is a debate unto iteself) wont they have to displace people, then does not that require them to reimburse for moving expenses? im not a contract wizard.

How long does it usually take to bid out of a base?

Yes you get money for moving if you are displaced

The planes will continue to work but may shift around. Its no secret that IAH crews do a bunch of flying in and out of CLE and to a lesser extent EWR. If the planes displaced from EWR are brought to IAH then IAH crews can stop flying up in the Northeast opening up work for the EWR crews.

With that said, its a far way away, staffing is very low at all the bases, and the all the Q will not show up at once I'm sure. I highly doubt we will see any displacements out of EWR.

Exclamation

I have talked to several of the 05/14 folks and so far most of us were assigned ONT and IAH. A few that requested CLE got it. It sounds like class seniority had ZERO to do with base assignments because ONT was my 3rd choice and a couple of people junior to me got something lower on there list and not ONT which was higher on their list. A few of us think that the base assignments were purely geographical. The closer you were to a base the more likely you were to have been assigned there. I DON'T GET IT!!!

Also, If we are assigned a base and then change our base the very next perm bid, we are eligible for relocation costs??? Really?

For displacement of FOs out of EWR to occur, the rate at which lines are taken out of EWR would have to be equal to or greater than the rate of FOs leave EWR (upgrading to CA out of EWR or transferring to other bases).

I don't work in scheduling or planning but I don't think it would be at all difficult for them to just close the door to EWR for FOs into EWR as the Q400s start flying. That way the FO attrition rate could work with the line decrease rate. Seems like the last FO to get EWR could be on reserve for a while.
