Packing for an overnight
Couldn't find anything on the search on this one. When packing shirts and pants, does anyone wrap them around/in something to help keep the wrinkles out? Or do you just spend 5 mins with the iron every night?

Gee, thanks. I know there will be some overnights with very little sleep, just trying to make all the little things as easy as possible so I can concentrate on learning.
Looks like my common sense failed yet again. Maybe someone else will know where it is written that a hotel has to provide us with an iron?
For the other new hires, let's try this. Write all the questions you have like this down and ask your buddies that work here or your pilot mentor. Most of the guys on here are about as helpful as a (insert your line here.)

A serious sartorial response for a serious sartorial question: Ideally, you would iron before wearing. A lot of hotel irons are rather nasty, though, so be careful. One shortcut is to hang your shirt in the bathroom during a shower. It'll loosen up minor wrinkles, particularly if you ironed your shirt before you packed it. For pants, roll, don't fold. They should be good enough without ironing. If you want to go hardcore, use the plastic bags you get from the cleaners in between items when packing. It will provide precious cushioning, but it will also take up precious space in your bag.
Of course, airline pilots have their own, um, interesting ways of doing things, so that advice will probably follow. Use at your own peril.

hang both your pants and shirt up in the shower.
Besides, in the winter time, what happens? You iron your shirt to make it look all professional. Put on your blazer/leather/trench coat. Get to the airport, take it off to go through security, put them back on. Arrive at the airplane, take them off, then sit in the seat for 2 hours figiting and changing positions.
What do you think your shirt pants look like when you get out of the plane?

Jeans don't wrinkle when folded in an overnight bag.
I don't pack an extra pair of uniform pants. Iron the uniform shirt (I bring 2 per 4 day) every night before bed and do be careful about the hotel irons, look for caked on crap before you use them on a white shirt.

If there shiit caked on the iron I usually use one of those hand towels as protection. It seems like most of the hotel irons just really suck though.

When I get my shirts dry cleaned I get them folded instead of on hangers. This makes them look nice and I normally just unfold them and hang them up for a night before I use them and skip ironing.
