same deal at Fedex... For you intern guys...I was talking to our new interns and they said the FAA is not letting any interns (doesn't matter the company) jumpseat anymore (that sucks).
Since when, we had a intern jumpseat a few weeks ago!!

FAA either changed their minds or clarified a rule, apparently starting this semester (new interns started on 1/8). Since interns are classified as "suppliers" they feel we shouldn't be allowed to jumpseat :(

We were told in orientation the company is working on a solution, hopefully it will get fixed soon.

man that's such BS, jumpseating was the best part of the whole internship experience, you definitly learn a lot from being out there on the line! This is definitly gonna hurt the internship program if this becomes the rule.....kinda sad

Yeah.... I will be interesting to see how this ends up. Plenty of interns affected.. Im curious if interns are classified differently at other airlines and if all are impacted.

I couldn't believe that as new hires in training, we were not permitted to jumpseat and observe actual operations. Total BS, and at that time Inters could ride in the seat!

Among other things, your background check probably wasn't finished (that slowed about 50% of my class getting to IOE) whereas the interns was complete before they walked in the door the first day, but we had to wait a week or two so the FAA guy could sign our paperwork for admission to the flight deck.

They passed a background check and had an ID while yours was "pending"... Don't take it personally.

Just read something verifying the change is industry wide. No interns on flight decks at least for now
