It is not an "airplane", nor did it leave the ground...

Do you really need this spelled out? This is actually flame bait right? Please let it be flame bait...

Flight time "commences when an aircraft moves under its own power for the purpose of flight and ends when the aircraft comes to rest after landing." 14 CFR 1.1 - http://tinyurl.com/ylzxws/

A sim, regardless of its level, is (1) not an aircraft, and (2) doesn't move for the purpose of flight.

He didnt ask about "Flight time." He asked about total time. The asnwer is yes to total time but no for flight time.

as i understand things...yes level d sim can be logged as total time in your log book, however, XJT does not allow you to use sim time to meet the mins of 600/100... furthermore, some sim time can count toward additioanl ratings (instrument/atp) but you are limited as to how much you can apply per the FARs...
