Default 2007 Benefits

Just received the 2007 Benefits descriptions and it looks like there is no 100% plan, the closest is 90% EPO. Anyone know how much a c-section might run me?

Pregnancy things sometiimes have different cost structures. You can look it up online, I think, when they enable the "compare" feature on myexjet.

How about skipping the cesarean and going natural birth? Anyways, there is a maximum out of pocket expense. So you would pay $250 copay plus 10% up to a maximum of $5k. I personally would go with the consumer advantage plan IF you werent having a baby or planning on it.

By all means Steve, take an anonymous internet buffoon's advice over that of your wife's doctor.

lap, you sound like that Northwest Airlines employee pamphlet on how to save money.

The 100% plan this year was the Oxford HMO. If I was a little quicker with my slapshot we could have had the kid this year.

Thanks for the advice on natural childbirth. While a vbac is definitely a possibility for us, our ob has informed us that it will most likely be another cesarean. alas, i will be paying for it up to $5000 I guess. Thanks for the replies.

I'm suspicious about all the 'necessary cesarians' that OB's claim. Out of curiosity, what reason did they give you that the first cesarian was required?

Yes MANY doctors perform cesarians for convinience. Im not saying that was Steve's case. But even if it was, vbacs are definately a good possiblity in many cases. I have a friend who had three vbacs with no problems. I know that is just an anecdote but it shows that it is definately possible. And it saves money as well!

No offense was meant, Steve, it just seems that the number of cesarians has skyrocketed in the past couple of decades, and I have a suspicious personality.
