Been on the RJ for about a 1.5, rented a 172 last summer and discovered that flying is flying. Lots of luck whatever you decide. The pay is not very goodin this industry. The days off are better than any other field I can think of. Pro'sandCons my friend.

First year sucks, but after that, the pay gets better. Captains make enough money to support a family. A lot of guys will put down the pay, and I am in complete agreement it needs to be changed, but it isn't THAT bad. A regional captain still makes more than the average American.

It is YOUR choice. Don't let anyone decide for you. There are pros and cons to every career field. Don't fall prey to the idea that seems to float around, that outside of aviation, things are so much better. It isn't. High paying jobs outside of aviation, are just as hard to get as those major jobs as pilots. Everybody wants them, and there are stacks, and stacks of resumes for them. Life is short ...do what you will enjoy doing, and never let anybody discourage you from your dreams!
