Default Ball and Chain....

I have gotten some feedback from several guys I've flown with recently, but wanted to see if I could get any here....from any of you guys/gals that have gotten married recently.

I am getting married in early December and was wondering if there was any sort of protocol for getting the time off I need for the wedding/honeymoon...in my mind, I have two things working against me...1) low seniority and 2) its DECEMBER for crying out loud!!

Any advice????

Talk to your chief pilot. They are pretty good and a few schedulers are usually more than willing to try and help out. PM me if you want some names. If anything, you may just end up taking it as time off without pay if you don't have enough VAC.

Here is the best idea. Don't get married. It's not too late to run.

We got married Dec. 27th, so I feel your pain! I talked to the Chief Pilot and was actually able to get off the 26th-30th- I was an FO then and as long as I worked the 25th it wasn't a problem. I was also off the first week in January... got pretty lucky. My wife was pretty stressed since the wedding was in CLE and I arrived the night of the rehersal dinner, but it all worked out. We did end up wiating til the end of January for our honeymoon so I could hold a week then and it was easier to fly. Good luck! It all worked out in the end!

We got married right before Christmas too. Chief pilot told me to work with planning and scheduling first (I was on reserves), then let him know which days we still needed. Called scheduling every night at midnight to see what was available for personal drop, then in the end got 2 days management dropped. Didn't know until right before, how much time we'd have, and didn't get paid much, but it was all worth it. Got nearly 2 weeks off. Good luck!
