Get the nice bright orange flag for the trailer... and go buy an inexpensive emergency strobe that you will pin to the back of the trailer.

That combo really does a good job at getting folks to slow down and go around you while riding down any road.

Wild Bill,

I rode down through Brackenridge Park yesterday. It would be a perfect place to haul a trailer or trainer. No traffic, wide trails and roads and plenty of places to stop with the kids, i.e. playgrounds, the river, etc.

I'm not sure what part of town you are in, but it was about a 5 minute ride from my house and I took the back way through Trinity University and down by the Zoo so I would miss the traffic. This will definately be one of my preferred routes when I get the trailer.

I'll keep you posted if I find other good places to ride. BTW, the bike rides great!!! I've been running all of my errands on it. Haven't driven my truck in over a week.

Good advice Bob, I'll do that. Thanks!

Score another vote for the Trek 7200 series hybrid.
I got one the other day and my g/f got the women's version and we both love it. Really comfy ride on the road and goes well on dirt tracks and gravel as well...

We bought my wife a Trek 7200 hybrid last month. I prefer it to my two higher end mountain bikes for riding around the neighborhood, it's a great bike. When the temperatures cool down (do they ever cool down in TX?) she's going to ride it to work and save some money on gas. According to the guys at the bike shop we're not the only ones with this idea, they say their commuter bikes are selling like hotcakes.

I've had my bike just over a month now and have put about 100 miles on it. In that time I have yet to put gas in my truck and have probably driven it less than 50 miles. Between my bike for errands around my neighborhood and riding the bus to the airport my gas bill has basically evaporated.

Good for you. It's people like you who are bringing the price of oil down, and saving themselves some money in the process.

Not to mention a good way to stay in shape, which is tough to do with this lifestyle.

Yeah, it's having that effect as well. I'm starting to lose some of my "hey everyone, look I just became a daddy" belly.
