Looking for advice on IAH neighborhood

I was just reassigned from EWR to IAH and my wife and I are looking for a good, planned neighborhood to buy a home. I'm an FO, but this is my second career, and my wife is a professional so we're able to pay a little more for a good location. We're looking in the 500 to 700 range.

From reading the threads on here, it seems that Kingwood and the Woodlands come up often and were going to start our search there. Are there any others that someone can suggest?

there are some very nice neighborhoods up on lake conroe. go to Houston Real Estate - Houston Homes, Houston Home Value and Houston Relocation and that is a great place to search. By the way for 500 to 700 you will be living like a king down here in IAH

There is a brand new neighborhood north of Kingwood called Valley Ranch. The wife and I are looking up there and I would recomend it. Here is a web site to a realtor Houston New Home Source | Houston Texas | Home | New Homes Houston Texas and one of them is a captain for us. Hope this helps

If it were me, in that price range, I'd look at Memorial or West University.

West U / Memorial are two great inner loop areas. The Kingland/Woodlands aren't bad places, but they're a long commute if you think that you'll be going into the Galleria / downtown very often.

You can read about the Houston Neighborhoods at Houston Neighborhoods

You can also get a free copy a 100+ page Houston Relocation kit (which is really good and goes into each neighborhood in detail) at Houston Relocation Guide | Relocating Houston Texas Free Guide
