Default Good Electric Company?

Me and a couple buddies from XJT are moving down to the Med Center (77004) area and was wondering if you guys could recommend a good electric company. Any experiences good or bad with certain companies, anyone found really good rates? Thanks a lot....

One caveat: I've moved past threesomes. I'm now into foursomes. If someone backs out, then you've still got a threesome. If two people back out, you're still having sex.

I use Green Mountain Energy. It is around 15 cents/kwh which is a little more but their energy is 90% gas and 10% wind so its very good for the environment.

Spark Energy.

Rates are pretty competitive. currently paying 10.5 per KWH, however I have paid as low as 9.2 depending on the going rate when I renew.

Heh - that was my first thought too. Any episode with Spider Man was good.

Point of clarification. You are paying them to put their 90% gas and 10% wind power into the grid, but that accounts for a very small fraction of total energy consumption. You are not guaranteed to get any of this power, just that say, 1% (+/-) of your power comes from these sources. thing is, everyone else on the Texas grid gets some of this power as well.

I'm all for alternative energy and am willing to pay for it, but when it's a difference of 50% more than the competitors, I have to go with whom ever is cheaper. In the end, electricity is electricity.

In Texas we have the pleasure of being able to choose who our provider is, unlike many other states where you're stuck with only one carrier, and then proceed to be gouged because there isn't a competitive market to keep prices in check (Just as anyone who lives in Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, or South Dakota; for all utility rates).

An interesting bit of trivia about the national electric grid. There are three electrical grids in the country: West grid, East grid, and the Texas grid. That's right, Texas has it's own power grid. Suck on that Cancerfornia.
