Default Moped!

This might be old news and I couldn't believe it when I heard it, but does anybody have any information regarding a moped purchase south of the border? If this story is true it is truly one of the most hilarious things I've heard in awhile.

I heard it from my IOE Capt... So... still don't know if it's truth or rumor... but definately funny!

There was something about it at an LEC 175 meeting. Had a slide with "the world's most expensive moped."

The dumbskull was busted by customs for not declaring it, and was busted by the FAA for carrying hazmat.

The real kicker is that it was an EWR guy and it was only like the third day of the trip. Was he going to fly around with it for another two days to get it home?

Maybe he thought if there was going to be a maintenance issue or flight cancellation he could ride his moped back to EWR. I wonder what his crewmembers thought watching this guy in his uniform chase after the hotel van to the airport on this mexi-moped! I hope he had his hat on so his hair didn't get wind blown!

The way the rumor goes...this was a pretty senior captain who had been fired multiple times in the past. But God bless ALPA, they helped him get his job back each time. I guess this was the final straw. I had flown with him for a month - longest month ever for me. Had to refer him to PPAP and ProStans. Good riddance.

For those of us who don't know this story, can you elaborate?

Apparently Home-Slice bought himself a moped-type bike whilst in Mexico. Well, not necessarily a moped per se, probably more like a Honda Spree-type scooter - whatever it was, 'twas certainly not the manliest of steeds.

Anyway, he rode it to the airport the morning of departure and had the rampers load 'er up. You know how they are in Mexico - el Capitan es Dios.

That much I'm sure of. Where it gets sketchy is how he was busted. I don't know if it was rampers in IAH, or maybe a customs inspector checking out the airplane while it was on the ramp, or what.

You can probably figure out the rest.

Maybe he was going to ride it back up to EWR on his days off?
