[quote=JackScrew;225114]They have very little debt....QUOTE]

Dear Mr. Jack Screw,

You have won ....this is the answer. People will argue this for eternity, much like in personal finance...but the reality is those with no debt.... are always able to ride the variable cost "waves" aviation has always incurred.

The funny thing.....while it works for Southwest...I wonder why they are the ONLY company who believes in this philosophy.

joe

ps. reference the USA Today Money Section article a couple weeks ago. Southwest makes >400million when gas is anywhere between $70-150 . (or something close)

I don't think it will be empty by the end of the year. It will have been drained by about a half or two-thirds, but not empty. It's never empty.

They may start interviewing towards the end of the year to start stocking the pool back up though.

I have also been told the interview process will be different from the past when they start up again.

I'll be able to confirm in it a few weeks. I'm a June 21st poolie, who was supposed to be in the 7th class at the beginning of the year. By what they've run so far, I should be halfway in the second new class to be confirmed. Still haven't been called for the "hand-eye" coordination demonstration yet.

As far as having the type when they start to interview again, I've heard the same rumor. Won't know until they post it on the website. All I know is that I would want to have one to get as close to the front of the line if at all possible. I can only guess how many other pilots have reached 1000 PIC since they stopped interviewing.

Also, as far as the token SWA-haters go, I would personally like to work for a company that hedges fuel, INSTEAD of their work group. There will be A LOT more airlines totally-screwed before SWA starts a nosedive.

I did not have my type when I interviewed in May of last year. Got hired and used Flight Training International. I recommend them they offer a accelerated course for $4999. You do like 32hrs of CBT at home then you are done in a week when you get there. I did mine at DAL. I highly recommend doing it in DAL. People where great to work with and was very relaxed.!!! Any questions PM me.

Yeah, heard good things about them...just wasn't sure if it was Higher Power or FTI that had the closer relationship with SWA, thx for the input, I'm sure I'll have more q's later.

Default More Classes Added

Confirmed 2 more classes for June.

Sounds like things might continue to move this way. Training dept. only gives HR about 1 month notice of new classes being added so it's difficult to predict but I'm hearing possibly the pool will be empty from those in it now by end of year.
