Default Moving Benefits w/ a Twist

Hey all you contract gurus, a quick question.

I was awarded ONT in November of last year on a perm bid, never used any moving benefits of any kind, and am now awarded IAH as of 4/1/08.

My question is, am I still entitled to my four moving days, as long as I take them prior to April 1st? I just sent P.S. an e-mail asking the same, and I can find nothing in the contract's language that restricts me from using them at any time.

Thoughts?

From what P.S. told me the 4 moving days are only for pilots exiting OE.

That's not true... I used mine last year when moving from EWR to SAT (Jersey City to Austin, actually) as an FO.

But I don't think you can (not sure, though) in this case because you are not using them to move to a new base (although you could maybe try and talk him into it since you never used them when you awarded ONT).

Actually, upon rereading your post, I see that you just want the days off, and did specify that you'd take them before being base advanced on the first of April. Does the contract list any "expiration date" of when you must use your moving days? I'm too lazy to look it up for you right now. I know to get the moving benefits you have to use them within a year of the new base opening. But as far as just the moving days, without the moving benefits (which is what I think you're asking about), I don't know if that's part of the moving "package" or something separate...

Sorry my answer wasn't much help!

"A pilot who is eligible for moving expenses, AND WHO MOVES, will be
removed from duty on 4 originally-scheduled work days to facilitate his
move."

Did you actually move within 300 AAA miles of base? If yes, coordinate your days with P.S. If not, good luck. The company wants to screw us by actually making us MOVE to get MOVING days? The next thing you know they're going to expect us to pay for our own hotel when we commute in.
