Default Careful what you post

Here's a story of a Delta FA and former Google employer fired over their blogs. I know this isn't a web log, but everyone with an internet connection has access to it. Be careful what you say here.

NOTE TO SELF----- I'll get fired for posting naughty pictures of my self in Uniform in a public message board.

I'll remember not to do that. You should all be thankful.

Funny, but take a look at the whole article, you'll see the example of the Google employee fired for writing about such mundane things as life at his company. How many of us are guilty of that (myself included)?

And thank you for not posting naughty pics of yourself. We can all sleep better now.

I also think the point was that they were using their real names. How much on this site can't you believe just because people aren't using their real names. It's easy to flame away when nobody knows who you are. I've done it to fire people up.

I agree completely. However, real name or not, you can still be tracked (IP addresses, etc...) and if someone higher up in our company really wanted your head on a platter, I think they'd be able to find out who you are pretty easily.

You're right, but that's true to anything in life.

But the law says we need to adhere to our manuals, as approved by the FAA. A breach of the manual is a breach of fedeal law. If the comapny mentions the word "security" to a judge, especially one who watches Fox News, they'll have your IP address quicker than you can say unconstitutional. This is the POST 911 ENVIRONMENT!!! and the Patriot Act DID pass making all Law & Order scripts obsolete. As for the mouth-breathers using their real name, well, my god.

Be careful what you think as well. Thought-terrorism is of growing concern in our industry.

FWIW,

I heard some guys at Express didn't make it to CAL because of things they said on CALFORUMS.

I've also heard stories about guys in the SWA pool who pissed off "someone" on the forums and was "blackballed" at SW by someone they offended on line. Apparently the guy had a good friend at SW that carried out the "do not hire" order. No questions asked.

They may very well be just stories, I'm not saying they are true, just things that I've heard.
