Default SAT hotels

After asking around, I know that a lot of people in SAT are just getting a hotel for a couple of nights a month instead of doing the crash pad thing. Has anyone out there found any good deals for hotels close to the airport?

I had my car in SAT a few weeks ago and drove to most of the hotels around the airport. The best deal I found was at the Best Western Casa Linda. They have an airline rate of $59. It's not specifically listed for Express, but the girl at the counter told me they would give it to us. They have the typical shuttle, breakfast, wifi thing going on. The shuttle runs 4:30am - midnight.

For vets and retirees, I've also crashed at Randolph AFB a couple of nights. Nice room for $27 (tax free). Internet is an extra $1.90 a day, but it's really fast. Problem is that you need a car in SAT to get there. A cab ride would be expensive and a minor hassle to get through the gate.

Has anyone else found anything good?

Try the Marquis (AKA Monarchy). They will give an ExpressJet rate of $40.00 ($47.00 after taxes). The hotel is old and a bit run down. At first it looks shady but it's a decent stay. I've stayed there quite a few nights and it's always been clean with friendly and helpfull staff. I think there is in room internet. There is a lobby computer but it has a slow connection. Breakfast is free, continental type, but not fancy. Van service is free (tips). It runs from early till 11:00pm. I just asked one of my crew to drop me off on there way home. Cabs would be about $15-$20. Several food shops w/in walking distance. Denny's attached to hotel. I wouldn't recommed straying away from the hotel at night. Daytime you should be okay. Ask for a room on the 2nd floor or above. The ground floor rooms have two entrances. (hallway, and outside). It's the cheapest I've found, with a free van.

210-653-9110 ask for ExpressJet rate. At check in the receipt may say %59.00 a night but they will change it at checkout.
