Sorry Matt,

I know my reply will be a let down to you, but I have the same request. I need a SAT crashpad. If someone is setting one up, will you please post here or feel free to PM me. I'll be headed down there in a few days. Right now I'm not looking forward to sleeping in the crew room!

Try this:

satcrashpad@yahoo.com

Guy's name is Daniel.
From an email:
... the house is located in 3107 Satellite
Dr., San Antonio, TX 78217, 3 miles from the apt.,
Phone 646-8855, we have Internet, cable, TV room,
Kitchen, Laundry, study room, large garden, etc., we
will have litters in a big room, the house has 5
bedrooms, and now there are 3 pilots living in there.
There is a bus a few blocks but in a cab the rate is
inexpensive.
Take a look in google earth.
Ok, if you have more questions give me a call.
210-630-1848 cell.

I visited this house. It is what appears to be a short drive to the airport. Googled it on my phone and it said 3.7mi. There is allot of construction on the roads in SAT so a taxi will probably cost a bit more. Maybe 7-10$ max. The house is not hard to find.

The house is a large two garage in a nice neighborhood. The neighborhood and house all appeared to be clean. It was quiet in the area. Me and another CA looked at the place. Entering in the living room, there is a bedroom off to the right with two twin mattress' in it now. the kitchen is off to the left and threw that are more bedrooms. I counted 4 on the first floor that could be used. One room on the 1st floor was a TV room. It had sound proofing and a large movie screen projection TV setup, pretty **** nice looking. The two back rooms had a bathroom w/ shower that looked clean. One of the back rooms had a table that rapped around the back wall. It was for the owners computer. It looked like he was taking it out since nothing but a computer yoke was there. There is a fenced back yard you access through the living room.

The pilots that were there were two student pilots from India training at the airport. They said there was a totall of about 3-4 other students in the house as well. (I think thats how many are in there, I can't remember). They said that a few other XJT pilots had come by to take a look.

They had the downstairs wide open with windows and doors so it was really hot in the house. NOT comfortable. There were dirty dished on the coffee table as well as an entire sinke full of about 4 days worth of dirty dishes.

They said the upstairs wasn't being used except for the owner and his son. The owner flys for Mexicana Air.

All in all the house is pretty nice for a crash pad, I guess. I think it would be awsome with allot of XJT pilots in there, and if people keep cleaning after themselves. I'm seriously considering going there even if I'm there for only a month or two while a XJT pad gets setup. $215 a month beats any hotel in the area.

BTW: on motesl, AVOID!!! AVOID!!! AVOID!!! the Super 8. The Comfort Inn is nicer and cheaper. There is a place out by the medical center that gives a weekly rate of $35-37, can't think of the name of it, but it does have a 6 in it. Semthing like Hotel 6, or something similar.

I'm new to the airline workings and crashpads, so I hope my thoughts helped. Please feel free to PM me with questions.

The house is worth a look. I think you can rent a car with online res for about $22 a day. Me and a CA did for $28 a day at the Hertz counter last minute. If you do go by the house please tell me what you think. I really don't know what I'm looking for in a crashpad since I've never used one. Thanks allot.

Hoped I helped

Anyone else have any tips on crashpads? I visited the house mentioned above, and now I cannot get in contact with Daniel any longer. His phone seems to be shut off, and nobody answers at the crashpad. I hear people talking about their crashpads, but I haven't seen anything posted anywhere. Anyone know of openings?

Myself and a buddy are looking for places. Right now we are using hotels. That adds up, especially for those on reserve.

Thanks.
