FYI: Just so everyone knows, for now I've ditched the idea of setting up an LAX crashpad. I couldn't get much in the way of firm commitment and it looks like no one (that commutes) wants to stay in LAX for long anyway. That combined with the fact I've been out of the country since 5/20 and won't come back untill the weekend of 6/9-6/10 made it hard to get a grip on this thing. With first month's rent + a deposit adding up to $4000, plus $1000 (minimum) to furnish the thing, plus all the logistics (cleaning service, utilities, WiFi) I wanted to provide it just wasn't possible to get the thing up and running. I would like to start a pad at some point (maybe for July or August) so keep your eyes peeled. Good luck and sorry this didn't work out.

The problem for me is this. I dont want to make any long-term commitments into a place to live because as soon as the next perm bid comes out I'm hoping to get reassigned (I think many people are looking to do the same). In this case, a long term hotel for 2-3 weeks looks like a better deal even though there are no guarantees that I'll be moving out. If there was a place to rent for a month I'd jump all over that!

We just openned a crash pad in ONT and are thinking of openning one in LAX if there is a true need. Please e-mail karen @ karen@husdp.com to form a list for LAX if we get enough people and there seems to be a need we will open a place in LA.
